FAQ
How to export .stl files from CAD system?

Almost all of today’s CAD systems are capable of producing an STL file. For the user the process is often as simple as selecting File, Save As, STL. Below are steps for producing high quality STL files from a number of today’s leading CAD systems. In all cases, export your STL file as a Binary file. This saves on time and file size.
| Alibre |
1. File 2. Export 3. Save As > STL 4. Enter File Name 5. Save |
|
AutoCAD |
Design must be a three-dimensional
solid object 1. Make sure the model is in positive space 2. At the command prompt type “FACETRES” 3. Set FACETRES between 1 &10. (1-low resolution and 10-high resolution for STL Triangles) 4. Next, at the command prompt type “STLOUT” 5. Select Objects 6. Choose “Y” for Binary 7. Choose Filename |

CADKey |
1. Choose Stereolithography
from Export options 2. Enter the Filename 3. Click OK |

I-DEAS |
1. File > Export > Rapid
Prototype File > OK 2. Select the Part to be Prototyped 3. Select Prototype Device > SLA500.dat > OK 4. Set absolute facet deviation to 0.000395 5. Select Binary > OK |
|
Inventor |
1. Save Copy As 2. Select STL 3. Choose Options > Set to High 4. Enter Filename 5. Save |
|
IronCAD |
1. Right Click on the part 2. Part Properties > Rendering 3. Set Facet Surface Smoothing to 150 4. File > Export 5. Choose .STL |

Mechanical Desktop |
Use the AMSTLOUT command to
export your STL file. The following command line options affect the quality of the STL and should be adjusted to produce an acceptable file. 1. Angular Tolerance – This command limits the angle between the normals of adjacent triangles. The default setting is 15 degrees. Reducing the angle will increase the resolution of the STL file. 2. Aspect Ratio – This setting controls the Height/Width ratio of the facets. A setting of 1 would mean the height of a facet is no greater than its width. The default setting is 0, ignored. 3. Surface Tolerance – This setting controls the greatest distance between the edge of a facet and the actual geometry. A setting of 0.0000 causes this option to be ignored. 4. Vertex Spacing – This option controls the length of the edge of a facet. The default setting is 0.0000, ignored. |

What is the best way to send you files?

Pls Compress (.zip file) files if you are convenient, then enclosed attachments with your enquiry email. And If your files is too large to send, pls contact us for FTP instruction. We can either create a secure folder on our FTP account or access yours to pick the files.
Files also can be put on CD if necessary via any transport company you desire.
What is your policy regarding confidentiality/non-disclosure?

Pls refer to our Privacy Police.
If you have an NDC agreement you would like us to sign, send it to us for review and we can return it promptly.
What are 3D drawings and why do I need them?

3D Drawings are created in a CAD (computer aided drafting) program such as Solid Works or ProEngineer. These drawings/models are required in order to create a plastic rapid prototype. You can download Rhinoceros CAD software and try creating your own CAD files.
You can be designing your own parts the same day.
Who is liable if the prototype is damaged for example by the transport?

In order to ensure your part has good quality, we will send the photos of final product to you before we deliver the package. If there is any problem during transport, we should request the Fedex to compensate first, at the same time, we would rework a same parts for you. Certainly, we would pack the parts very well. We are goog at this, so it's not too easy to broke it.
I send to you a .stl file, Pls quote it. but I want to know, what is the price per cm3?

we would analyse your file, normally, the price of it is depend on complexity of the structure and after treatment requested.
We have a project need prototype, but I don't know much about material and technology. Can you give some suggestion?

Pls tell us usage of your parts, for exhibition or test function? Do they have assemble relations? Base on these, we would provide a quotation with suitable material and technology.
I have a design is in urgent need of exhibiting after half month, how long will it take?

After we analyse your file, for the production time and transport time, it will take about nine days, you will get the beautiful prototype. But please notice that it doesn't include the Sunday.
What's the time should I pay for ?

We will provide you the pictures after we finished the prototype, and after you checking the picture, you can arrange the payment and provide us with the bank slip or paypal receipt, then we will arrange the delivery.
